Contest
Official Rules
NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO
ENTER OR WIN. VOID WHERE PROHIBITED.
1. SnagAJob.com’s
“America’s No. 1 Hourly Worker” Contest is sponsored by SnagAJob.com,
located at 4880 Cox Rd. Suite 200, Glen Allen, VA 23060 (“Sponsor”).
2. Eligibility.
The Contest is open only to legal residents of the 50 United States and the District of Columbia aged 16 or older who properly register to win.
Participation constitutes entrant’s full and unconditional agreement to and
acceptance of these Official Rules. If an entrant is
chosen to be a Finalist and he or she is under the age of 18, he or she must
provide Sponsor with written consent from his or her legal guardian in order to
be eligible to qualify as a Finalist, travel to New York and receive any
prize. Each entrant must be employed in an hourly, non-exempt job, and must be
employed by his or her employer reference listed on his or her Contest Entry
Form as of the date the Grand Prize Winner and "America’s No. 1 Hourly
Worker," is selected. Each entrant must properly and legibly
complete and submit to Sponsor the Contest Entry Form, including an original
essay written by entrant on the Contest Entry Form in English in no more than
250 words about why the entrant is America’s Number 1 Hourly Worker and contact
information for entrant’s direct supervisor at his or her hourly job. In order
to qualify as a Contest Semi-Finalist, the direct supervisor of an entrant must
provide a reference for the entrant and permit the Sponsor the right to
modify, use, reproduce, electronically publish, and display the submitted
reference in all media, means, and forms and without any payment to the supervisor. Employees, officers, directors, agents,
representatives, and immediate family and household members of Sponsor, as well
as its parent companies, affiliates, subsidiaries, consulting firms, and
advertising agencies are not eligible. One (1) entry allowed per person.
Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify an entrant for entering more than
once.
3. How
To Enter. There two ways to enter the Contest:
(A) Online:
Access the Contest page at the SnagAJob Web site at www.snagajob.com, follow the directions
provided to enter the Contest, complete the Contest Entry Form in English only
and submit the Contest Entry Form. Normal Internet access and usage charges
imposed by your on-line service will apply; or
(B) By
mail: Print off and complete the official paper entry form available in the
Employer Toolkit on the Campaign to Hire America Web site at www.campaigntohireamerica.com,
and mail the entry with postage fully paid to: SnagAJob.com America’s No. 1
Hourly Worker Contest Attn: Heather Moose 4880 Cox Rd. Suite 200, Glen Allen,
VA 23060. Normal Internet access and usage charges imposed by your on-line
service will apply.
No entries
will be accepted if they are emailed or faxed.
Entrants
represent and warrant that the essay submissions are authored by them, are
wholly original and are not copied from a book, magazine, newspaper, or other
commercial or proprietary source. In consideration of entrants' participation
in this Contest, entrants expressly grant Sponsor the right to modify, use,
reproduce, electronically publish, and display the submitted essays in all
media, means, and forms and without any payment to entrants.
To qualify
for the Contest, online entries must be received by 5:00 p.m. EST on September
5, 2006, and mail-in entries must be postmarked on or by September 1, 2006 and
received by September 5 (Tuesday), 2006. Please do not call Sponsor to inquire
about the status of your entry. Entries will not be acknowledged or returned
and become property of Sponsor upon submission.
Sponsor is not responsible for lost, late, stolen,
misdirected, damaged, incomplete or illegible entries, or technical, computer,
telecommunications system or telephone failures, errors or data loss of any
kind, lost or unavailable Internet connections, or failed, incomplete, garbled
or deleted computer or network transmissions. Entry materials/data that have
been tampered with or altered are void. Sponsor reserves the right, in its
sole discretion, to cancel, terminate, or suspend the online portion of the
Contest at any time if a computer virus, bug, or other technical problem
corrupts the administration, security, or proper play of the Contest, and in
such event, to select the Semi-Finalists, Finalists and Grand Prize Winner from
among all valid online entries received, up to such time of cancellation,
termination or suspension, and from among all valid mailed in entries postmarked
on or by September 1, 2006 and received by September 5, 2006.
4. Selection Of
Winners And Judging Criteria. The fifteen (15) best entrants will be
selected from all eligible entrants by SnagAJob.com as Semi-Finalists by
November 30, 2006. The five (5) Finalists will be selected from the
Semi-Finalists as the Finalists by an independent panel of human resource
executives. The best entrant will be selected from the Finalists as the Grand
Prize Winner by Bill Rancic by November 30, 2006. Eligible entrants shall be
judged based upon their essay submissions and their supervisor reference(s).
By participating, entrants agree to the Official Rules and the decisions of the
judges, which shall be final and binding in all respects.
5. Prizes.
The five (5) Finalists will travel to New York City for an all expenses
paid event with Sponsor to compete for the Grand Prize. This includes all
airfare, accommodations, transportation, and meals for the duration of event
stay. The five (5) Finalists will be judged at the New York City event for the
Grand Prize based on their essay submissions, supervisor reference, and one on
one interview with Bill Rancic at the event. The Grand Prize Winner will be
announced during the New York trip. Four (4) of the five (5) Finalists shall
each receive a $1,000 cash prize. The Grand Prize Winner shall receive a
$10,000 cash prize. The total approximate retail value of all the prizes is
$19,000, which will vary depending on points of departure and destination,
seasonal fluctuations in hotel rates and airfares. Minor Finalists must be
accompanied to New York City by their legal guardians who are responsible for
paying all of their own expenses and are required to execute a release of
liability. The winning entries will be made public and will be featured on
Sponsor’s Web site beginning on or about November 30, 2006. Winners are solely
responsible for any and all taxes on prizes. The prizes will be awarded “AS
IS” WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND.
6. Notification,
Publicity and Releases. The potential Finalists will be notified by
mail and/or telephone within ten (10) days of selection. The potential
Finalists will be required to complete, sign and return Sponsor’s form of
affidavit of eligibility/release of liability and publicity and a consent to a
background check, which must be returned within ten (10) days of notification.
If background check is returned with a questionable result, Sponsor will decide
whether or not to keep entrant in the running of the contest and will contact
entrant within ten (10) days of receiving background check results. Minor
potential Finalists will also be required to contemporaneously provide to
Sponsor the written consent of his or her legal guardian to the foregoing in
the form prescribed by Sponsor.
If a
selected potential Finalist cannot be contacted, is ineligible, fails to claim
his or her prizes, is unwilling or unable to travel to New York City on the
Sponsor selected date to compete for the Grand Prize or fails to timely return
the completed and signed affidavits and releases and consent to a background
check as required, such potential Finalist will be disqualified and an
alternate Finalist will be selected from the remaining eligible
Semi-Finalists. Sponsor is not responsible for and shall not be liable for
late, lost, misdirected, or unsuccessful efforts to notify the potential
Finalists or for the potential Finalists’ late, lost, misdirected, or
unsuccessful efforts to claim their prizes. Acceptance of the Finalist prizes constitutes permission (except
where prohibited by law) to use the Finalists’ names, hometowns, likenesses,
photographs, statements made about the promotion and about Sponsor and/or prize
information for purposes of advertising, promotion, and publicity without
additional compensation.
By entering, participants
release and hold harmless Sponsor, its affiliates, directors, officers,
employees, and agents from any and all liability for any injuries, losses, or
damages of any kind caused by the prizes or resulting from acceptance,
possession, use, or misuse of the prizes or participation in prize-related
activities, and claims based on publicity rights, defamation, or invasion of
privacy. Any dispute that arises regarding the meaning or interpretation of
the Official Rules shall be resolved by applying the laws of Virginia in an
action brought in the state or federal courts located within that state.
