2005 "America's No. 1 Hourly Worker" Contest Information

In June of 2005, SnagAJob.com launched the first annual "America’s No. 1 Hourly Worker Contest" to spotlight and celebrate the hard-working hourly employees in America. Any worker that received their job through SnagAJob.com was eligible to enter and had to tell us in 100 words or less why they thought they were the best. The Grand-Prize Winner would receive $5,000!

Over a thousand entries were submitted from outstanding hourly workers across the nation. SnagAJob and an independent panel of human resource executives chose the three finalists:

  • Edward Elvira, Chuck E. Cheese's® employee
  • Brianne Pavacik, The Home Depot® employee
  • Annette Ottani, Michaels® employee

They were flown to New York City for lunch and a final interview with Bill Rancic, Season 1 winner of "The Apprentice" and SnagAJob.com spokesperson. Representatives from each of the finalists’ companies attended this event to cheer on their company’s employee and co-worker with signs, noise-makers, and even a company mascot!

Bill named Edward Elvira, Chuck E. Cheese's® employee, the 2005 "America’s No. 1 Hourly Worker" and handed him his check for $5,000. "It was a tough decision, but in the end it was the passion for his job that exemplifies what it means to be the best hourly worker," said Rancic. The two remaining finalists each received $1,000.
